I wonder if you know any of God’s names? Yahweh Jireh – the Lord provides; Yahweh Rophe – the Lord who heals; Yahweh Raah – the Lord our
Shepherd. This term the young
people who attend the Thursday Club have been discovering more of who God is
and what He wants to do in our lives through learning some of the names that
God has given to Himself or have been given to Him. For example, did you know that God declared about himself
that ‘ He was the Lord who heals’
just after
God’s people had crossed the Red Sea and were starting their journey with the
Lord in the wilderness. We have seen the Lord be true to His names throughout the
ministry times on a Thursday night and teenagers have been healed, been given
guidance, and peace and love has filled them. Other names we have looked at are Jesus, the name given to
our wonderful Saviour, and Abba Father, the one whom Jesus came to reconcile us
to. What we have discovered is that God is like a diamond in the
sense that when you look at a diamond there are so many different sides to
it. Is it not amazing that we can
relate to God in so many ways? As
Father, as Saviour, as Healer, as Provider, as Shepherd to name just a few. This term also saw us take a group of teenagers down to
Whithaugh Park in the Borders thanks to St Mungos Church. During the weekend the weather was
terrible but we had a lot of fun.
The ropes course provided an opportunity for some of our guys to take a
bath, and I was slightly concerned by the number of hairdryers and hair
straighteners that seemed to appear in the boy’s cabin. No names! During the weekend the young people encountered God through
the activities, the Word and through the ministry times when God’s spirit was
moving. Once again thanks to St
Mungos for their wonderful support to us, which allows us to continue the youth
work here at Holy Trinity. Other high points have been the After School Club where we
have been looking at the life of Jesus, building on what we learnt from last
term when we did a mini Alpha course.
We see this work slowly bearing fruit as young people start to encounter
God and put their faith in Him so please pray for these young followers of
Jesus that they would make a difference in the community they are living in. The Middle J Team have been focusing on the early church and
learnt that being a Christian in those days in the Roman empire could be life
threatening. The Junior J Team
have been looking at several topics but are finishing with the account of
Easter. The Senior J Team have
been attending the services due to the building project so we hope you have
been enjoying the Rev. Do Good and Feel Good. A big thank you to all the members of the youth team who
give up their time to serve and show the young people Jesus. As we enter a new term we would ask you to continue to pray
for the different groups that are open to the young people attending:
Tuesday Boys
Cell Group Wednesday Girls Cell Group Thursday Teenage Youth Friday
After School Club Teenage Youth and fun

J Teams Happy Easter and thanks for your prayers and support God bless Ollie and
