The Church

Holy Trinity Church is situated in the central area of Wester Hailes and is the only Church of Scotland in the community.

There are excellent relationships with the local Baptist Church with whom there have been a number of joint ventures. (See Community Ministry for new venture.)

Recently a partnership has developed with St Mungo’s Episcopal Church in Balerno They have provided financial support to fund part of the Youth Ministry at Holy Trinity as well as supplying a number of workers for the Café, Breakfast Club and Clothes Store.

The Church membership is enthusiastic although by the nature of the community there is a need for the Ministry Team to train and assist those leading within the congregation. The Church has remarkable spiritual reserves and has shown its ability to survive setbacks with great Christian faith and resilience.

The Edinburgh Presbytery were positive in their 2003 report on the congregation of Holy Trinity:

“For any Church to be a lamp to its community it must be visible. Some achieve visibility by external illuminations highlighting beautiful facades. But the only light that matters in real terms is the light of Christ and that shines brightly from Holy Trinity through its people, its work and its joyful ministry in Christ’s name. The building is a centre of worship, prayer and ministry – a place that is open to its parish and from which many go out in Christ’s name to do his work. They have our admiration, our encouragement, our support and our prayers. May God continue to bless them, richly bless them in all their work and witness.”
