Youth and Children's Resources

Over the years as a youth worker I have found some great resources which I have found very helpful.  In every case you have to adapt the resource to your own situation but these are the resources I have found have really worked with young people.  Hope they help you.

RESOURCES

                 Rock Solid (Youth for Christ)

Rock Solid and Rock Solid 2 are two great youth resources that you can use in a whole variety of situations.  Whether it is an after school club for youth or a Church youth group whether on a Sunday or throughout the week these resources can be adapted to fit.  Each session provides some great games which tie up with the Biblical themes.  

YFC offer a great deal which is if you pay £20 a month you get access via the website to all three of the yfc resources (this includes Mettle which is for older teens).  Its a bargain!

YFC also have adapted the youth Alpha material so it can be taught in schools which is called Explore.

                Youth Alpha

You have probably heard of the Alpha Course well there is a Youth Alpha Course.  Youth Alpha is a great tool for helping young people explore the whole topic of Christianity in a relevant way and allows the young people to ask the questions they have about life.

This resource is available for free is your go onto the youth alpha site and register your course.  You can then through the talk-builder package adapt each talk for your group and the amazing thing is that it is free!  Thanks Youth Alpha.

 

                    Here Comes Heaven

One of my favourite subjects is the Kingdom of God and how as sons and daughters of the Kingdom we have a part in bringing heaven to earth.  This book was written to be used by children but I have used it with teenagers and they love it.  Throughout the book there are prophetic exercises which train your young people to hear the voice of God.

Mike Seth has also produced a weekly course for children’s ministries which comes in four parts and is called Kids Carrying the kingdom.  We have used this material on a Sunday and it is very good for bringing children into the things of the kingdom.  You can download this off Mike’s site which is called Kids in His Presence.

                        Awesome on the Inside

I read this book and then used it to teach a series on the heart with our teenagers.  It is a great read and will challenge your young people to see that Jesus is calling us to change from the inside out.  If Jesus has our heart then change will come. 

Tim has also written other great books including Totally Transformed which I have also used with our teenagers which looks at some of the major issues that teenagers face.  Tim has also written some very helpful Bible studies that help you disciple young people right from when they come to Christ.  These are simply called Growing Young Disciples.

This is another great teaching series from Mark Oestreicher.  This teaching series allows your young people to enjoy some games and drama and yet get challenged from the dare that Jesus gives from each session.  Other books that Mark has written to use with your youth group that are well worth buying are: Wild Truth Pictures of God, Great Talk outlines for Youth Ministry, Wild Truth Bible Lessons.  Thanks Mark you are a great encouragement.

                                    Worship House Media Website

We all learn differently so I think it really helps young people to learn when they not only hear what the Bible teaches but also see.  Often it is a real struggle to find good media clips that help convey your subject.  Well the team at Worship House Media have put together a great website to help you find great and relevant media.  You can view and then download media for those last minute talks which helps to put across the message.  They also have a kids site which is good.

In regards to worship and young people I have found the Worship Central website and conferences really brilliant in helping young people to encounter God.  You can download all the latest songs from their website and listen to podcasts and video clips that will help you worship God and help your young people do the same.
